:: Job Experience ::

After much persuasion by the Lepaqueen, I have decided to create an entry. How is everyone? I have hardly heard from any of you. I know Meifang is in Genting. How about the rest of you- Adila, Asrie & Harti? I think a meet up is due soon. Any one second my opinion?

Anyway, let me blog about my job experience at the Singapore Science Centre which will be drawing to an emotional close tomorrow as it is the last day of the Singapore Youth Science Festival. Anyway, my job is that of a lecturer for a series of classes of DNA and mutation. Basically, it is a fun and interactive class aimed at Primary & Secondary school children. We teach them about DNA and mutation via illustration of the common fruitfly. Students learn the normal boring stuff about DNA and then they can make flies! They also can view real life mutated flies under the stereoscope! Well, I will try to make a few flies for you guys if possible tomorrow.

I have been lecturing on the same topic for almost 20 classes so I must be the most robotic person in the world right at this moment. I wonder what teachers feel like mann although their repetitive cycle is on a yearly basis unless they take multiple classes. Oh well! But I had the most of fun teaching this kids and it was such a pleasure to be in the midst of great colleagues and vibrant youth. Makes me feel less adult and takes me out of the microcosm of reality that I am already 20!

Had a few funny experiences with kids. I will share some of the more less embarrassing ones.

During the first day, there was this Primary Five girl who walked up to me and asked to go to her table and sit beside her and help her make the fly. I could not say No because the girl was just so adorable and cute. Anyway, I obliged and sat beside her guiding her on making the fly. After that she flipped my Staff Card and read my name as "Hamid Rambutan". She shouted it damn loud and the entire class starting calling me Mr Rambutan! Grrr! And she grew so possessive of me. She didn't let me leave her side mann! And she even made a fly and wrote my name on it and gave me as a parting gift! I was so touched! Never did I imagine that I would be so touched at someone giving me a paper fly! And as she was walking out of the lab, she turned around and screamed, "Bye Bye Rambutan!" before giggling away. Children are really adorable aren't they?!

Then a more recent one occured. I'll keep this one short. Basically, the students have to fill up this feedback form for the Science Centre. And I was takind a Lower Secondary class. So there were this group of girls who wrote under the heading "3 things I would like to know in future lessons" :

1) The Instructor's Name
2) The Instuctor's Number
3) Whether the Instructor has a girlfriend

Unfortunately, I didn't know this. Not even when a girl from the group came to ask for my name and number at the end of the lesson! Geeee! Then my supervisor started laughing heartily at the end of the session and she went like, "Hamid, you are going to do all the lessons from now on." And that is how I ended up lecturing all the lessons for the series. But it was a nice experience.

Ultra-Weird Dream

Hey guys!

Woke up at 3 pm today... Thought it was night-time cos it was so dark in the house! (raining outside) Yes yes, i'm a lazy bum! But I slept at 4 plus yesterday (ermmm today) ok! So anyway, I'm here to share a dream that I had yesterday (erm today)... It had all of you in it ie. Adila, Asrie, Hamid, Harti!

So anyway, u guys came to my house to surprise me... Apparently it was my birthday! Adila gave me a pancake with a cheesecake inside... She said it's not cheesecake, it's some blueberry thingy... but it tasted like a cheesecake anyway! She baked it herself!

Then I asked Asrie, "Aren't you supposed to be at Ubin (pulau ubin)?" (Cos in reality, I had read an SMS from him in the morning saying he'll be at Ubin today, guess it carried forward to my dream!) He had bluffed me so that I'd be surprised!

Then I think Harti presented me with a birthday present from you all... A TV with no screen! (there were buttons for channels and everything, it was a silver box... Maybe you were supposed to connect it to my TV) *rolls on the floor laughing* I remember grumbling in my dream that it was such a useless present! I then proceeded to change the channels on my TV (some ancient model) and all I could get were Malaysian channels!

And Hamid! He dressed himself up as a sheep/cow (can't remember)! I was supposed to guess who was inside... & I guessed it was Hamid cos he's the only one tall/big enough to be a big sheep/cow!

And you were all jumping up and down on my queen-sized bed! And the party continued...

That's about all I can remember! Wasn't this weird??

Noble Guy

I ended up watching this Tamil movie on vasantham... The hero actually married this blind girl so that her uncle (who was supposed to marry his blind niece to fulfil his late sister's wishes) could marry the girl the hero was in love with!

Gosh.

This post has been brought to you by a girl who had barely woken up and is trying to take a break after finally finishing her designing work yesterday!

Depressing

Hey guys, stumbled upon this in cyberspace... Thought I'd share it with you guys...

From Boredslacker,

This was pretty chilling to read... This blogger blogged about his sister's ex visiting them, and hours later he was dead. Later, police identified the murderer through an entry on his blog. Read the incriminating blog entry, and then read the news article about the killing.

Rest in Peace, man.

Armpit Story

Courtesy of Harti... :)

Hey everyone, as you guys probably know by now all I see when I try register here are squares. So Siti has kindly agreed to help me post this up on Hamid's request. Well first a brief history of how this marvelous piece of literary effort was created. It was our final PDCP lecture and we were all tired of playing Hamid's word games. So I came up with this idea (siti n rustom might recall us doing this in Mrs Abraham's english class in sec 4), whereby I write down a sentence and then pass the paper on for the next person to write down a sentence and so on and thereby churning out a very ridiculous story. Well so we did just that, I think we were rather proud of our end piece, and it took some real effort not to laugh out too loud as we went along... there are some bits that might be unsuitable for kids thus I would like to forewarn that the story is PG 13.. as you will see in Hamid's sentence. Oh yes the sequence is Me, Hamid, Adila and Sha and we rotate again so you can identify the author of each wonderful sentence. Enjoy!

BULU - THE OLD RUBBER NOSE

He turned around and gasped! He was staring right into an armpit. Dank, smelly and full of hair, it was a sight to behold. And then he felt a surge of excitement running through him, he loved the smell! He looked up to gaze at the owner of the marvelous armpit. It was a cow. But wait, since when did cows have armpits? And then he realised that he was now in the year 3005, cows have evolved tremendously.Suddenly he was struck by the beauty of the cow, she had an hour glass figure and flawless black and white skin. He gently stroked the cow's armpit. To his horror, the beautiful cow turned around and bit off his nose. "My nose! Ouch!!" he yelled,"Oh beautiful cow I am so heartbroken, I can't smell you no more... boo hoo!" "You have sinned oh young fellow," said the cow, " Did you mother not teach you, Never smell a cow's armpit?" "No Ma'am cow, she never did tell me that," he said morosely. And that is the story of how Mr BULU came to be known as OLD RUBBER NOSE by all the neighbourhood children, to be ridiculed and scorned forever more.

~ THE END! ~

Msia Trip - Journey to Kuantan [Day 0]

Ok shall start writing abt our trip now...

So we set off from Larkin in JB after sitting thru a horrendous causeway jam...made it to the bus terminal with some time to spare thx to the excellent driving skills of Mei Fang's father's colleague. The bus left punctually at 8 pm & soon enough we were bumping along the night on some old road at breakneck speed. Along the way, as the bus stopped at a traffic light, there was a rickety looking gym on top of a shophse, complete with this huge muscle man posing at the window. Siti was so enthralled by the sight, she waved & even took a foto! & the muscle man waved back & flexed his muscles just for her! hahaha....

ok as the bus hurtled on to kuantan, we realized tt the driver was not going to stop for a break at all...that was just too much for hamid & boredin, whose bladders were full to the point of bursting. so our fearless leader asrie got up & asked the driver to stop for a
toilet break. according to him, the driver gave him a pissed off look then continued driving. all of a sudden, he stopped the bus abruptly. ended up having a 1/2 hr break in e middle of nowhere, with no toilets arnd. yet many passengers got off to relieve their bladders! poor residents of that area probly woke up e next day to find the grass all dead.

reached kuantan bas terminal makmur at 1.30 am on sun morning
as "homeless vagabonds" (quoting hamid). yup, first we had supper at this happening 24hr Restoran, then decided to go to the nearest hotel & pretend we were guests so we could lepak for free in their lobby. we followed e lights to hotel grand continental, dragging & rolling our bags along e roads, while boredin amused us with some funny jokes. ended up taking a really roundabout route before finally arriving. well, in e end we decided we might as well book a rm there even though it was already 3am. the counter guy was nice enough to close 1 eye to e fact tt there were 6 of us to 1 rm. we sprawled arnd & found our own little spots to sleep in...day one was just beginning....

To the laughtertears & our extended family, this blog was created by Siti for us! Me & Harti had the idea to have a blog where we can share our holiday experiences & crazy adventures together, so Hui Lin can write about her Canada trip, Neela & Mo about their Europe trip etc. & of course the madcap bunch who went to Cherating/KL/Genting, who could forget the wacky but delightful times we shared?
We have a favourite place to study, favourite place to eat, favourite place in LT 29 & now Favourite Places - the blog!

:: Lovely ::

It's lovely that we have found Favourite Place number 4! After the favourite bench outside the library (#1), the bench in the canteen (#2), the corner in the LT (#3), we now have yet another favourite place this time on the Net! How cool is that? Very! Anyway, I just want to take this opportunity to thank you all for being wonderful beings in this wicked world. You all have played an important role in making my life more joyous. May we use this blog as a platform for informing one another of anything and everything we want and let us not make this the kind of blog where we start rambling our mundane or undulating life stories. Maybe, Hartirathpal Kaur might want to post the Armpit story in here so that we can all share and learn at the same time.

Hopefully, this blog goes a long way in time to come.

Love,
Hamid
