:: Pictures From A Paradise ::

Hello everybody!

Well, since Adila suggested let me blog abit about my trip. Four young men, Hamid, Jit Khong, Malik and Shabeer decided to take a short getaway to the lovely island of Lang Tengah which is located off Kuala Terengganu. It was love at first sight for Hamid as they reached the island. The water was so clear it reflected the sky in perfect harmony to elucidate a lovely bluish green hue and sparkled like African diamonds. The islanders greeted us with disarming smiles and served us a chilled glass of orange juice to kick start a fantastic 3D 2N stay on the island. The main activities we partook in on the island itself was of course snorkelling and sports. We had two snorkelling trips. One snorkelling trip was in the Redang Marine Park. My word! We were virtually swimming in a forest of fishes! The most amazing this is that the fishes totally avoid touching you no matter how you move! The feeling was amazing! We got to see zebrafishes, pomfrets, parrot fishes, tengirris and groupers. I got the rare chance to spot a few black-tipped baby sharks swimming at the surface of the water. Besides the fishes, the corals were amazing as well! It is sad to realise that these corals take millions of years to form and are killed in a matter of seconds due to human intervention. Then, our second snorkelling trip was around the island and it was also memorable. The waters were much deeper and the corals were more varied. Although there were less fishes, we really enjoyed ourselves as the scenery was just breathtaking. Once again, I got the rare opportunity to have spotted and followed a long water snake. So much for snorkelling. The most heartwarming part of the trip was in the evening when all the people in the island which includes the natives, a Swiss-Punjabi family and an Italian couple got together to engage in a multi-national fun-filled game of volleyball and soccer. Although Team Singapore (we four guys) let our country down in volleyball, we matched the Europeans in soccer and salvaged our pride. It was very nice bonding with these people through sports and I think it really showed us how to overcome the language barrier. We also had some free time in the island where we were just doing nothing and as Harti has told us it is an amazing feeling to be able to do nothing! I would very much love to return to the island with the rest of you guys one day. Any takers? For now here are some photos...

About that Makan Trip

Yes! What abt it?!? i must admit i forgot all abt those lavish plans we made...i think it was on e day we had tt excursion to HPB, while sitting at fav place...rem we also had a stimulating conversation abt Crossman & Neary (pronounce to rhyme w Rosman). yeah we were supposed to go round in hui lin's car to all those places hamid had mentioned, all thru e night. at one pt we had to stop & tell ghost stories (my idea). then for a break, we would go play SET "till we go mad". Yes! watever happened to those exciting plans. let's do it lah! though not now, its too late. yeah & e tree top walk too...perhaps during e next break or even midway thru 6 wks of e clinics if we happen to be free 1 weekend...& as harti mentioned, our hearts would have grown fonder after being isolated in our little CGs in diff parts of S'pore. by then i suppose, hamid would have made a new best fren. u know who! don't fail in ur task hamid! u can do it!!

some words of encouragement there. anyway yes guys, we must try to follow up on our crazy plans while we can, or we will be swept along in e tide of upper M life & sooner rather than later we will find ourselves in scrubs at 4 a.m. in e morn, lamenting on e loss of our carefree youth.

ok that's all i haf to say for now...see u guys on mon! enjoy e rest of break!!

~ some ramblin ~

Hello lovely people! Hope you all doing good... Asroe and his fulfilling of comm service hours, MeiFang in LOVELY aussieland (wish i was back there myself with the ghost... wat say u rustom?), Hamid swimming around n lepaking in Terengganu and spreading his infectious laughter even further, Jit swimming around with Hamid and bonding with new buddies, Rustom waiting for my free day to go buy shoes, Huilin waiting to see if our book buying adventure will actually pull off and Marvin who has gone missing. I have just realised that this hols is my most uneventful one yet, nothing to do, nowhere to go... but i think its exactly what i need. Not many people have mastered the art of appreciating the joy of lying on your back and thinking about nothing, i think its a truly wonderful activity and i engage in it quite a bit this hols. Just nice to know that for once I can leave my mind free and enjoy my day without worry in my head. And what wonders it does for the hair fall and pimples i tell you! The hols are drawing to a close, been so quick.. and just a week left and we not gone out! What happened to our big plans of going round at night eating at all those famous makan places till morning eh? And what of tree top walk and all?? But with just a week left how much can we do also rite... well if nothing happens this week.. there is still the next three weeks to look forward to after E clinics. Speaking of which suddenly all that excitement i was having earlier is now being replaced by a feeling of apprehension as E clinics draws closer. I guess its always fun to think that we are gonna go to wards and start clerking patients but man i am so scared to injure them! I am highly capable of doing that! N i also realise that i am sorta going into this with a more or less empty head... void of most of my anatomy and with somewhat warped Physio concepts. So Adila and Huilin, hope ur anat and physio all still intact... coz i am gonna need a whisper or two into my ear every now and then as the doc asks me stuff! Freaky la! I dun wanna get scolded by the docs.. how embarrasing! Yet I am too lazy to go read anything, the days left are too precious to be wasted on things like studying. Sigh love my life now.. wish it can just go on and on.. but nope, soon its gonna be time for heels, collared blouses and yes, maybe even the occasional skirt. oh well.. as Galadriel says in the opening of LOTR, the world is changing. Ok maybe not the world, but our world, hope its a smooth one eh? Cheers!

~MeiFang's Bdae Lunch Pics~

so we all gathered at Sofra to celebrate Meifang's bdae albeit belated. So here is fang and huilin posing with pretty smiles as we wait for Rustom's grand arrival

marvin was there too!

rustom finally arrived and felt murderous... she decided to take out her frustrations on her food

but after a delightfully confusing chat with the equally confused waiter, she decided that the salad-thing ain't too bad after all (issit??)

tak was there too.. striking a model pose

and of course there was hamid and yours truly.. with rustom!

ooh and the waiter who took the liberty of decorating the cake himself... and later got a highly decorated slice courtesy of us! Marvin looks on full of joy!

bdae gal with her cake.. wonder why they put just 6 candles tho

upclose and personal with the marvelous cake which tasted every bit as good! kudos to the baker tak=)

fang blowing out her 6 candles for her 21st bdae.. hmmm

prezzie handing over ceremony

lo and behold...a nice green bag!

huilin sneakily taking photos not knowing i was doing the same!hehe

and Hamid looking oh so sweet!

this is how i eat my cake...

the master baker and his masterpiece

the highly decorated slice that Rustom so coyly presented to the nice waiter

soaking in the Turkish ambience

happy gals

3 happy guys and er... hmm

a wax replica of Hamid Rahmatullah Bin Abdul Razak at Madame Tussauds!

and finally huilin with her super funky degreeless specs!

:: At The End Of The Drawbridge ::

Split hooves, cowboy hat and a black ride
The final ride and you know it too
All the memories put away in a night
Accompanying you is a lonely hue

You see the end very near
To let it all go you know is salient
Entering a cave of uncertainty and fear
Leaving the familiar for alien

In that last second your mind races
To all the times of shared symphony
The many people the many places
It now all ends in melancholy

You are at the end of the drawbridge
You leave behind what is behind you
Never to look back
For what lies ahead is the truth, the bitter truth is due

_____________________________________________________

Dear Mates,

A depressing poem I know but on hindsight I think we have made so many memories together and every one of them is worth cherishing. All your smiling faces and laughter are flashing in my head right now and they will keep flashing for a long time. I don't think that physical distance will prove to be a problem in maintaining the bond that we share. Every relationship needs effort to be nurtured and to be treasured. I am sure we will send SMSes and ring a few phonecalls once in a while to check on how we are doing and stuff. We might get too much time to meet up but these small gestures will be a constant reminder of the special bond that we share and will definitely brighten up our impending tiring clinical lives. I just want to take this opportunity to thank you all for the wonderful memories made and the memories that we will make. You guys the most wonderful bunch of friends and I am grateful for that. I also want to apologise for any stupid things I have said or done to hurt any of you. Rest assured that when I did those things, I did not have the intention of offending you guys. Even if I had, I hope you guys will forgive me! Sometimes I know my laughter can get a bit sickening and tweaked with a little bit of insanity and feminism. I apologise for that too!

Love,
Hamid

Favourite Places, Favourite Pple

Hi my dearest M3-to-bes (hopefully lah...for me tt is)!

well, after 2 plus wks of diphyllobothrium latum, pseudollescheria boydii, orientia tsutsugamushi & gallons more of such joyful creatures, it's finally over!!! soooo excited abt starting E clinics...but e thought of being out there is a little scary though...being at e mercy of impatient drs & all. hamid! how conspicuous u'll look wif ur flashy but very becoming burgundy stethoscope, i'm sure e dr will not hesitate to ask U to put it to use & listen to some heart murmur. nvm, mf & asrie will be there by ur side!

it's sad that we wont be seeing each other everyday as we have for the past 1 plus or more yrs (or ever since laughtertears was formed at the ORIGINAL fav place & hamid's gang plus me, harti & huilin fused as one...hah!) & of cos we'll definitely feel some pangs of heartache on leaving behind most fav place, 2nd fav place, fav place canteen etc etc where we would just gravitate to one by one to sit & gripe abt shabbir moochala's cartoons tt provoked murderous feelings in all of us come CA time, laugh at hamid laughing, nag at asrie to join us for lunch, get excited when mf eats something other than bao & apple, oh yah who could forget e day when we were introduced to e exhilarating game of SET by our funky twins. ah...reminiscing...

oh i must take this opportunity to explain how e laughtertears got their name. it all started when one rainy afternoon, we were panicking over our 1st physio tut (don't forget, before i become the cool, calm collected person tt u see today, i was a regular ramesh panicker). we stumbled upon these holey red tables tucked into a corner tt we had never seen before. filled w excitement, we decided to sit there & discuss tut. over time, this led to us forming a mini-studygrp & declaring tt special red table our permanent study place. we thought of ourselves as e 4 study musketeers who laughed more than studied. & when hamid laughs really hard, he cries. so there u have it - the laughtertears! soon, we were joined by other fantastic friends & even discovered other perks of studying there - mainly e convenience of e nearby toilets & of cos, e 20 c drink machines.

well even though our fav places will fade in our minds as they get colonized by opportunistic strangers...& 1 day we can walk past as M5s & snort at M1s studying Spots while we rush out to save lives...hahahahaha...(rem harti tt weirdo M5 who laughed at us worrying abt spots last yr?)...even so, i'm sure we'll have many more memories tog right? thru thick & thin & all that. i was just reminding harti abt this conversation we had on e 3rd day of sch in M1:

me looking at some upper M in her white coat: Oh man harti, so cool! one day we'll be wearing that too!
harti: eh, we havent even worn our lab coats yet lah!

yeah, time sure flies knowing we're now on e cusp of upper M-dom.

ok hope this blog doesn't languish into oblivion. so wat are ur plans guys for these next 3 wks? hamid & mf going off next wk right? e rest? u guys wanna movie marathon one day?

ok bye fav pple!
